RC plane flying from yesterday, after I got yelled at for flying my quadcopter, this fellow was allowed to fly his much faster moving, much less GPS stabilized, thing.

Why would you get yelled at for flying a quadcopter out there? It's a huge, non-residential open area, whoever had a problem with that must have a stick up their ass...

I tend to agree. But I also frequent this park and don't want to get a bad rep.

the professional bit wouldn't have helped, it's also not allowed to shoot any kind of commercial photo/video in the park without a permit.
AKA I'm an art student just making art projects...always

the problem is that "drones" have gotten a lot more common in the past years which means that you get unskilled people flying them and crashing them into trees, houses, people, dogs, giraffes and other stuff. Planes on the other hand are less common and are normally only flown by the the seasoned hobby-ist
do i agree with what happened to you? nope
but as always its the dumb ones that give us "pros" a bad rep

Selective law enforcement is never cool. Like when you get pulled over in a nice car and someone going faster than you in a crapcan didn't.

I agree, there is a massive stigma. I just read an interesting bit in the NYT, and now I'm going to call the park that I was in and ask some specific questions. Might get a post out of this.

People are idiots. This is why real flying > RC flying.
